把水泥浆或水泥砂浆和泡沫混合后，用不同处理方法硬化成功的人工建筑石料，其中有均匀分布的闭合小空气泡，因而形成多孔结构，叫作泡沫混凝土。这种材料与水泥混凝土在构造上的主要区别：就在于水泥混凝土缺少这种多孔结构。

After mixing cement slurry or cement mortar and foam, artificial building stone, which is successfully hardened by different treatment methods, has uniformly distributed closed small bubbles, thus forming porous structure, called foam concrete. The main structural difference between this material and cement concrete is that cement concrete lacks this porous structure.

多孔结构给泡沫混凝土带来了许多优良的特性：如重量轻、导热小和抗冻性高等，都是建筑上的非常宝贵的性能。

Porous structure has many excellent properties for foamed concrete, such as light weight, low heat conduction and high frost resistance, which are all very valuable properties in building.

泡沫混凝土的制作过程并不复杂。简单说来，只要把水泥浆或水泥砂浆和泡沫在搅拌机中拌匀，然后象浇灌普通混凝土一样，浇灌在模子里，经过硬化处理，就可以得到各种混凝土的制品了。
